Wow! All of a sudden 5 and 1/2 months goes by.
It's been a busy 10th year so far for 2 Hands Studio. We had a wonderful open house with lots of visitors who got to taste some tasty treats from Happy Belly and received some free massage and yoga classes! It was a blast!!!
On to something I would like to share with my gang and anyone else who reads this... I did an experiment on myself this past year. I made it a goal to practice yoga 4-5 times a week and receive body work 2 times a week for a year.
I focused mainly on hot power yoga with at least one class a week being power pilates. All of my body work has been clinical, integrative or Thai massage. There were a few other types such as ayurveda massage, reflexology, lypossage and hot stone. All great.
As most of you know, I am a rather disciplined person, so sticking to the goal was easy. At the beginning, it was difficult to acclimate to the hot yoga. It's flipping HOT! And I thought I was strong until I hit that first Pilates class. Very humbling.
As the first half of the year went by, I was happily on my journey and completing my goal every week. Feeling aches and pains, working through it and noticing some changes to my abilities and body. Having hands on work 2 times a week is simply amazing. All was well.
Approximately, at the 6 month mark I found myself feeling a bit achy. Fatigued. Kind of stumped. I thought well maybe I need to be doing something different. Maybe this is too much work? Too much body work? Then, I started to look at it different. Moving the body and challenging it is always a good idea. Having body work and allowing the heart and mind to join... it's hard work. It's difficult to allow, let go, give, give in... know how to and when to do these things. So, I just kept going... allowing all of my person to work together. Sometimes my mind would want to take over, sometimes my body wanted to power through and other times my heart just wanted other things. It's amazing how much we try to separate all these parts, when they work so much better together!
I'm currently 2 months past the 1 year goal. It's been a wonderful journey. I've never felt stronger... more grounded and as a whole... whole!
I stand firm in my belief that we must MOVE and allow ourselves to be MOVED. Body, Mind and Heart.
Hope to see you all very soon at the Studio!
